# Appointments and Pricing

All prices are in US dollars. Veterinary services are not subject to Wisconsin
sales tax; retail products such as food, flea preventives and over-the-counter
items are, and tax is added at the register. Prices are current as at September
2026 and are reviewed each July.

The prices below cover **exams and vaccinations only**. Medications, tests,
procedures and hospitalization are quoted separately at the time of the visit.

## How to book

Online booking is available for standard exams, vaccinations, puppy and
kitten visits, and technician appointments. Surgery, dentals and euthanasia
appointments must be booked by phone so we can talk through preparation and cost.

**What to bring**

- Any previous vaccination certificate or records, if you are new to the clinic
- A list of current medications and diets
- Cats in a secure carrier; dogs on a leash, not a retractable one
- A fecal or urine sample if you have been asked for one

**Typical wait for an appointment**

- Urgent same-day illness or injury: same day, usually within a few hours
- Standard exam: 1 to 3 business days
- Vaccination or wellness exam: 3 to 7 days
- Dental or surgery: 2 to 4 weeks

### After-hours fees

After-hours attendance is charged as a call-out fee **plus** the cost of the
exam and any treatment.

## Vaccination fees

Every vaccination appointment includes a **full physical health check** by a
veterinarian at no extra cost. A vaccination certificate is issued on the day and
a reminder is sent by text message and email before the next due date. Rabies
certificates are issued at the visit and reported to the county as required.

**Rabies vaccination is required by Wisconsin law.** Every dog must be vaccinated
by 5 months of age, kept current, and licensed with the county or municipality.
We issue the rabies certificate at the visit and can file the license paperwork
with you.

Adult dogs need a DHPP booster every 3 years and a rabies booster every 3 years
once the 1-year dose has been given. Leptospirosis and Lyme are annual, and we
recommend both here — Vernon County has plenty of deer ticks and plenty of
standing water. Dogs boarding at a kennel or attending grooming usually need proof
of *Bordetella* given at least 14 days beforehand.

There is no FIV vaccine available in the United States — it is no longer
manufactured for the North American market — so we test rather than vaccinate
for it. FeLV is what we
recommend for outdoor cats and cats that fight. Indoor-only cats generally need
FVRCP and rabies alone.

We use the Medgene RHDV2 vaccine, which holds a USDA conditional license and is
sold only to licensed veterinarians. Rabbits need the two-dose series to be
protected, and a booster every year after that. RHDV2 has been confirmed in wild
and domestic rabbits across much of the United States, and indoor rabbits are not
safe from it — the virus travels on shoes, forage and insects.

Vaccination works best alongside biosecurity: keep rabbits indoors or in
insect-screened hutches, do not feed forage cut from areas
where wild rabbits graze, quarantine any new rabbit for 30 days, and wash hands
and change shoes after handling other people's rabbits. Call us the same day if a
rabbit is off its food, lethargic, or bleeding from the nose.

## Cancellations and missed appointments

- Please give at least **two hours' notice** to cancel or move a consultation.
- Surgery and dental bookings need **one business day's** notice.
- A missed appointment without notice attracts a **$32 fee**, applied from the
  second occurrence onward.
- Surgery bookings missed without notice attract a **$64 fee**.

We run a short-notice cancellation list. Ask reception to add you if you need to be
seen sooner than the next available slot.

## Estimates and consent

We provide a written estimate before any procedure, and we will contact you for
consent if costs are likely to exceed the estimate by more than 15 percent.
Estimates are valid for 30 days.

## Concessions

- 10 percent senior discount on exam fees, age 65 and over
- 10 percent discount on exam fees for active-duty military and veterans
- 15 percent discount for registered rescue and foster caregivers
- Free first exam for any pet adopted from a Wisconsin humane society or 501(c)(3) rescue within the previous 14 days
